Alex Heinke (B. 1977) grew up in Jefferson Oregon and had a fascination with science, nature, and art at a young age.  He moved to Minnesota for college and received a BFA in studio art from Carleton College in 1999 after briefly studying geology.  He then moved to New York City and received an MFA in sculpture from the New York Academy of Art in 2002.  Alex now lives and works in Jersey City New Jersey and has been creating toys, statues, action figures, medical models, and bronzes, for the last 17 years.  He worked for McFarlane Toys from 2003 to 2009 and sculpted many figures for McFarlane’s sports, military, and Spawn lines.   From 2010 to 2019 he sculpted for NECA and worked on many projects including Alien, Bioshock, Team Fortress, Planet of the Apes, Predator, and Marvel.  He also teaches sculpting privately and at the American Woodcarving School in addition to Lyme Academy
