Sculpture

This foundation course will explore three-dimensional concepts, skills, and process. Students will work in clay, construct an armature and sculpt form from direct observation. Emphasis will be placed on learning anatomical, structural, and proportional strategies necessary for building the sculpture.

Oil Painting

This foundation course focuses on direct and indirect oil painting methods. Emphasis will be placed on developing skills to paint the subject in terms of form, color, light, tone, and texture. The instructor will demonstrate painting techniques and use of mediums.

Illustration Essentials

July 15th - 19th

9 a.m. - 3 p.m. | Tuition: $350

Students will explore drawing and painting as a means of thought and communication. Aspects of art, storytelling, and careers in illustration will be introduced alongside class projects. Students will develop skills in water-based media as well as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Projects include character illustration and album art. Upon completing the class, students will have learned how to produce a professional illustration from start to finish.

World-Building

July 22nd - 26th

9 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Tuition: $375

World-Building equips students with character design, environment design, writing, and storytelling skills; all of which one must possess upon entering the gaming, film, or graphic novel industry. Projects enable students, by the end of the class term, to develop a fictional world and its visuals. This course offers the opportunity to design settings and characters of iconic resonance within an original mythic world.

Animation

Aug 5th - 9th

Learn to animate using Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere. Instruction will emphasize artistic creativity, timing, motion, and combining sound and/or music. The course will also focus on the principles of storytelling and characterization with the goal of developing more advanced projects.

Toy Sculpture

Sculpt the mechanics of an articulated figure on a small scale. Surface anatomy and joint systems will be created to enhance the students creative vision. The figure can be used in toy design, as a model for graphic novels or animation.

Concept Art

July 8th - 12th

9 a.m. - 3 p.m. | Tuition: $375

This course will focus on the basic building blocks for concept design. Concept design is a key component of today’s entertainment market and is used in video game creation, animation, movies, and the Internet. It can involve visualizing fantastic creatures, scenes, clothing, vehicles and used in a variety of other applications. There are some basic principles that contribute to concept art creation, and this class will provide basic fundamental knowledge that will allow a student to further explore concept design on their own.
