Marissa Asal received her BFA in Drawing and Painting from Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in 2019. During her junior year, she spent a semester living abroad in Tuscany, Italy, studying art of the renaissance period.
Marissa is primarily a realism portraitist who works in a variety of mediums including oil paint, charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, watercolor, and pastel. Her current love for painting sprouted when meeting master oil painter, Will Cotton, in 2015, who has since become her mentor.
Her celebrity portraits have been recognized and supported by many, such as pop sensations Lorde and Katy Perry, SNL stars Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Melissa Villaseñor, Stranger Things actor David Harbour, and Scream Executive Producer Marianne Maddalena. Her recent “Oilween” painting series, which highlights icons in the horror/thriller world, went viral on TikTok, amassing a near ten million views.
