YOUTH DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
As an Artist, educator and alumna of the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, I believe in the importance of passing on the traditions taught here to a new generation of students. Not all that travel through these doors become professional artists but what fine art skills offer is the power to become life long learners and adaptable problem solvers. Art promotes cooperation between the eye, the hand and the mind. Art training builds confidence, self-reliance and focus, all valuable for pursuits of higher learning and beyond. This place is a haven, effecting you profoundly in ways you'd never expect. The things learned here foster unique abilities, a sense of community, and a high level of appreciation that lasts a lifetime.
